On January 10, 2016, the three “Queens” of Cunard will leave Southampton for a five month journey together around the globe. Cruise ships Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria will sail with purebred ocean liner Queen Mary 2 and return to return to the UK May 10, 2016. Their itineraries will vary, each visiting slightly different ports of calls in many cases. However all three will remain in the same region as they progress through Asia and back to Europe.

The Dog Channel featured a great article about dogs traveling aboard Cunard’s purebred ocean liner, the Queen Mary 2. The story details the adventures of three different dogs, each with representing one of the general reasons a K9 might go to sea. The first was an obvious but little considered reason: basic transportation. A Tampa, Florida couple had a five year old Bulldog, which it appears cannot fly because the breed is known to have issues surviving long trips by air. For the couple traveling by sea was not simply a pleasure but logistical necessity hearkening back to the romantic and often leveraged history of cruising.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced it is buying Prestige Cruises International, holding company of Oceania and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The move brings NCL into line with its large peers Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) by adding upscale brands to diversify their offerings.
