UBS is reporting that up to 25% of operational costs could come from fuel. Is there any way to avoid surcharges now? I doubt it.

They'll price themselves out of the market. Fly/cruising will be hit hard too with this, that and the other extra charge to pay. This could be the beginning of the end of the cruising boom. Should be good for giveaway prices!

The question begs to be asked: if the lines are going to be hit that hard, consolidation typically occurs. But there are not a lot of lines left, whose merging would have some kind of impact on the industry at large. NCL comes to mind as a target, the Apollo groups certainly has eventual resale in mind. Time will tell.
